CompactDAQ is a data acquisition platform built by National Instruments that includes a broad set of compatible hardware and software.[2][3][4][5] CompactDAQ integrates hardware for data I/O with LabVIEW software to enable engineers to collect, process and analyse sensor data.[6][4][7] CompactDAQ systems are less expensive than equivalent systems within the NI PXI Platform.[3]

Hardware[edit]

CompactDAQ systems are managed by a chassis controller module, which controls data transfer between up-to 8 I/O modules and a PC.[8][7] The chassis controller contains a timing controller that synchronizes data acquisition from all connected I/O modules.[9] The following types of chassis controllers are available:

  • USB Chassis - designed for small, portable, mixed-measurement systems on the benchtop or in the field[7][3]
  • Ethernet Chassis - ideal for distributed measurement systems in locations where Ethernet networking infrastructure already exists[7][3]
  • Wireless Chassis - zero configuration setup over Wi-Fi and support for over 50 measurement-specific modules[7]
Signalexpress

LabVIEW SignalExpress is an interactive, nonprogramming tool for making measurements. SignalExpress is a menu-driven environment where you use intuitive drag-and-drop steps, instead of developing code. You can use SignalExpress to instantly acquire, generate, measure, and analyze signals. SignalExpress supports the following NI ELVISmx instruments. SignalExpress enables you to log, analyze and present data from measurement devices without programming.

CompactDAQ systems connect to sensors via wired or wireless I/O modules, connected to a chassis controller.[9] Currently only NI C Series modules are compatible with the CompactDAQ platform.[7] Modules are available with analog inputs and outputs for various sensor and signal types, digital inputs and outputs, built-in signal conditioning and ADCs, and most modules provide electrical isolation.[9]

Software[edit]

Sensor data is collected and analyzed using compatible PC software such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio and SignalExpress, also built by National Instruments.[10]Application programming interfaces are also available for C/C++, and .NET languages such as C#.[11]

2015

LabVIEW integrates with CompactDAQ chassis controller hardware to connect to physical sensor or signal data sources. LabVIEW can also connect to oscilloscopes and USB DAQ systems using the Measurement and Automation eXplorer (MAX) LabVIEW component.[10]

In LabVIEW, virtual instruments can be configured and simulated, in order to test data processing when physical hardware is not available.[10] The Virtual Instrument Software Architecture (VISA) is the back-end component that manages communication between LabVIEW and CompactDAQ hardware.[10]

I have been getting a lot of support questions regarding activating LabVIEW lately. To be more specific, users are saying that their serial number is invalid when they try to activate the software. In this post, I am going to detail how to activate your LabVIEW software properly.

Using the LabVIEW Installer

If you purchased LabVIEW through Studica, you most likely only have LabVIEW, Multisim, or Ultiboard. It’s possible that you have all three. This is important to note because the LabVIEW installer (depending on which one you are given) will often list lots of different software that you may not actually have a serial number for. This is usually the source of the “Invalid Serial Number” error. For example, if you put in your LabView serial number where it asks you for the NI SignalExpress serial number, then you will receive an error. This is because your serial number is only good for LabVIEW, not SignalExpress.

Once the software is actually installed on your computer, you will need to activate it. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth activation.

Go to Start → All Programs → National Instruments → NI License Manager.

This will open up the License Manager for your NI products. This is where you can see all your licensing information. This is also where you activate your licenses.

Under the hierarchy that says “Local Licenses”, find the product that you need to activate and left click on it. You will see an “Activate” button near the top left of the window. Click on this button.

A wizard will pop up with a few options to choose from. I recommend using the “Automatically Activate Through a Secure Internet Connection” option. Then hit Next. The next window will show you a list of possible products that you can activate. Again, your serial number is only good for certain products. If you do not know which products, I recommend looking at your purchase order and confirming what it is that you purchased. Fill out the serial number information for the applicable programs and hit Next. On the next window, you will be asked to login to your NI profile. Go ahead and do so. If you do not have an account yet, click on the “Create a New User Profile” option and make a new account. Once this is done, click Next and the activation process will begin.

Once it’s done, it will let you know if it succeeded or failed. 7th pay commission arrear calculator in excel uttar pradesh. If you have any failures, it is most likely because your serial number does not cover the failed products. I hope this is helpful. Feel free to leave comments. Thank you!
